Affirmations

“Affirmations are like planting seeds in the ground. First they germinate,
then they sprout roots, and then they shoot up through the ground. It takes
some time to go from a seed to a full- grown plant. And so it is with affirmations- it takes some time from the first declaration to the final demonstration.
Be patient.”

– Louise L. Hay

Simply put, an affirmation is anything you say or think. Whatever predominant thoughts you think or feel, turn into affirmations. If you think negative thoughts and feel that way, it is not going to help you heal your life. A lot of people, do this unknowingly. You have to think in a positive way and feel it completely, in order to create the life, you want.

Did you know, that every thought you think and every word you speak is an affirmation? You create your life’s experiences with these very thoughts you think and the words that you speak. Beliefs play an important role here. You have learned most of your beliefs when you were a child. while, some of them may work well for you, some others may limit your progress in life. Oftentimes, it so happens that, what you want and what you believe, you should get, may differ. This needs to be corrected, for, unless both fall in the same line, your affirmation will not work for you.

You will have to learn to eliminate all those beliefs, which do not work for you. Every complaint that you have, is also an affirmation by itself, as when you keep affirming what you don’t want, and when that is all you always think about, you bring to pass, in your life. Learning to focus only on the positives is always helpful, here. You may want to stand first in your class, but deep down, if you believe, that you don’t deserve it, then, this will not work for you, as they are conflicting thoughts and beliefs. Life is all about choices, choose to focus on the positives, it’s your life, after all.

Sometimes, unpleasant experiences or incidents may be holding you, prisoner , in your thoughts. This affirmation, which also happens to be my favourite one, clears away all the negativity associated with it and opens up a new world before you.

I release this incident with love
It is over and done
I now look with expectation to my next moment which is fresh and new
Only good experiences lie before me
I am greeted with love wherever I go
I love life and life loves me
All is well
and
so am I”

Louise L. Hay

Affirmations work in the following ways-

1. Find or write down your own favourite affirmation in a piece of paper, make many copies, stick it in all areas of your house that you frequent, your room, restroom, kitchen, car etc. This is to remind you, to keep saying the affirmations continuously , till it is imbibed in you.

2. Watch your thoughts, and keep deleting all hurdles or doubts regarding the affirmation.

3. Remember, that negative thoughts work better than positive ones, as a lot of emotion is poured into complaints and doubts.

4. This takes time, be consistent and do not expect results, over night.

Affirmations can be written and spoken in various areas of your life, like health, finances, relationships, to name a few. It has certainly made a positive impact in my life. Why don’t you try it and see for yourselves?
